The Art of Changes - I Ching Paintings as Feng Shui Cures
Many of us have had the pleasure of experiencing both the elegance of art for art's sake and the power of functional art. Combine those with ancient cosmology plus a touch of customization and you have a truly valuable and unique asset. Not only does Feng Shui art look nice, but the quality of functionality that is achieved is one that few other crafts can match.

Where else can you find an original piece of art work that will not only increase in value but will increase your wealth luck, or will improve your marriage?

Paintings, rendered by an artist who has a strong understanding of cosmologics, myth and tradition may be used as effective Feng Shui cures and catalysts of good qi (chi). Thus with wall paintings you can accomplish a great deal, tastefully and elegantly, without taking up a great deal of space.

The I Ching, also known as the Book of Changes is a sacred text the ancestors of ancient China received through their meditative and spiritual practices. This great system has become the foundation for Asian arts from cooking to painting.

Made up of eight trigrams, or gua (kua) and sixty four hexagrams (combinations of two trigrams) the symbols of the I Ching are known for their talismanic qualities. Each of the sixty four hexagrams has its own theme, image, judgment, and counsel associated with it.

For centuries men and women have consulted this ancient oracle and planned based on the insight they received. Wars have been won, marriages arranged, emperors chosen, stocks picked, and diagnoses made according to I Ching.

Each of the eight trigrams, or gua (kua) is associated with an element and a set of specific qualities, polarities, colors, etc. It is this system that has been applied in Tufani's Art of Changes collection. These paintings may be used as feng shui cures based on the elements they correspond to. The Ba Gua (pa kua) or eight trigrams of the I Ching each reside in one of the eight sectors.

The gua governing the southwest is Kun, the Receptive. This simple glyph comprised of three broken lines represents pure yin energy, receptivity and openness to the forces of nature that flow around, within and through us. When Kun is topped with the fiery gua Li you get Chin (Progress), the 35th hexagram. This glyph forms the central figure in the "Relationship Progress" series.

Purpose: Invokes the power of the I Ching's 35th Hexagram (Progress) towards the strengthening of relationships. Also stimulates the earth element.
Where to display: Place in the Southwestern sector or anywhere that you would like to strengthen the earth element and/or increase your luck in relationships.

"The (35th) hexagram represents the sun rising over the earth. It is therefor the symbol of rapid, easy progress, which at the same time means ever widening expansion and clarity."
- Richard Wilhelm, I Ching, The Book of Changes.

Sun is the gua of the southeastern sector, bringing with it the gentle yet penetrating aspect of the wood element. When topped with K'an, the water gua, you have Ching - the Well - a most treasured hexagram from the I Ching.

Purpose: To energize the wood element, money luck and invite the virtues of the 48th Hexagram of the I Ching (The Well)
Where to display: SouthEast Sector, or anywhere you need money luck or a stronger wood element.

"The well from which water is drawn conveys the further idea of an inexhaustible dispensing of nourishment."
- Richard Wilhelm, I Ching the Book of Changes

The ancient glyph forming the main figure in this series of paintings carries with it deep insights that greatly transcend dollars and cents, so approach it with reverence and respect. Wealth has many facets and many vehicles through which it may arrive. Basic human need remains the same no matter what one's age, social class, location or religion. So often we allow such factors such as those mentioned above to blind and segregate us; so much that we forget we need each other to prosper. We are our own greatest sources of wealth.

These are but a few from Tufani's Art of Changes collection, selected for their use as unique and potent feng shui cures. Other paintings are available for the other sectors of the ba gua. Custom and commissioned paintings based on Tufani's Art of Changes are available promptly upon request.
