  Your brilliant star direction

This direction is considered lucky for you personally. If you enter your house through this direction or sleep with your head pointing to this direction, then you can be especially creative and successful at what you do. I have included each person s Brilliant Star Direction based on your Chinese Zodiac sign. The Brilliant Star Direction is a precise direction with only a 15 degree range, not the 45 degree range that is included in one of the 8 basic directions.

Example: The lucky Brilliant Star Direction for a Tiger person is not the entire 45 degree range of northeast. It is the 15 degree increment of NE that is very close to East.

  • RAT = North (353-7 degrees)
  • OX = North (353-7 degrees)
  • TIGER = E/NE (53-67 degrees)
  • RABBIT = East (83-97 degrees)
  • DRAGON = East (83-97 degrees)
  • SNAKE = S/SE ( 143-157 degrees)
  • HORSE = South (173-187 degrees)
  • SHEEP = South (173-187 degrees)
  • MONKEY = W/SW (233-247 degrees)
  • ROOSTER = West (263-277 degrees)
  • DOG = West (263-277 degrees)
  • PIG = N/NW(323-337 degrees)

  • **It is not a typo that some of the Zodiac signs have the same Brilliant Star Direction, such as the Horse and the Sheep.
**Your lucky direction may be in conflict with your Personal Trigram Direction (based on the East-West School). Which is more important? Your Personal Trigram is.

Example: A woman born in 1960 is the K un Trigram, which is a West-type person. Her best directions would include W, SW, NW, and NE. The direction of North would not be a good direction for her based solely on the East-West School. And yet, if she is a RAT as well, then North has some lucky features for her after all.

Before you sign on the dotted line...

In April I had the pleasure of working with more than the usual amount of clients looking for new homes or offices to lease or buy. This is a growing part of my business and one of the best times to bring in a feng shui consultant. I have been doing compass readings in Southern California for ten years and there are some sections of L.A. County that I know so well, that clients can fax me floor plans of the properties they are interested in and I already know the direction the house or building is facing.

I have been able to help some clients weed out the less desirable properties without even going there in person. (Of course there are many environmental considerations that have to be seen in person, but in the initial stages I am interested in knowing what year the property was built and what direction it is facing.) Some of my clients are getting adept at doing their own compass readings. I am always available to give you some personal instruction in how to use a compass before you start house-hunting.

I often stop by the property in person to do a compass reading and check out the neighborhood as quickly as possible. I also have an associate on hand if my schedule is booked. Next time you are thinking about moving, call Feng Shui Solutions to help you choose the right place.

    Speaking of moving...

Some of you have read Japanese Astrology books that emphasize the good and bad directions to move to in relation to your own personal Trigram. I do think this is interesting and relevant to feng shui. As an example: if a person is the Wood Trigram SUN or CHEN based on their birth date, they would not want to move in a direction this year that has annual Metal energy because metal can destroy wood in 5-element theory. This year the directions of East and Southeast have annual metal influences. The direction you move to is relevant to where you have been living for at least three months. As an example, if a Wood person is not supposed to move East or SE this year, then a move from Seattle to Albuquerque would not be good this year.

The good direction for a Wood person to move to is the direction where the annual influence is Water, since Water strengthens Wood. This year the Water influence is in the West. So moving directly west of where the Wood person has been living is considered supportive. This move could be three blocks or a thousand miles.

There are also several directions each year which are considered neutral directions, not good or bad. If a couple or family is moving together and everyone has conflicting good and bad directions, then this is just another feng shui tidbit which will drive you nuts and you shouldn t obsess over it. Finding a house with good feng shui is more important than the direction you move towards.

Question : Is it considered bad feng shui to move some place where the previous occupant has died?
Answer : A previous occupant s death in the house is not necessarily a problem for future occupants. Someone who led a long, happy life in the house can indicate its supportive nature. When a person resists dying, or if there are some really negative circumstances surrounding the death, then there may be good reason to investigate whether the feng shui of the house had anything to do with it.

Question: Is it bad feng shui to keep a loved one's cremation ashes in the house? Or is there any ideal place to keep them?
Answer: Do you remember the scene from Ben Stiller s movie "Meet the Parents"? I would definitely say that keeping an urn on the fireplace mantel is not a good idea. Your departed loved ones have already transcended the physical. Scatter the ashes instead of storing them
